About Us
Welcome to the St. Mary’s Wrestling Club’s home on the web. We are a junior league level club based out of St. Mary’s County in Southern Maryland. Our program hosts wrestlers ranging in age from 5-14, prior to them entering high school. We cover basic fundamental wrestling through advanced technique. The program feeds wrestlers into Leonardtown, Chopticon, Great Mills and St. Mary’s Ryken High Schools. Our regular season runs from the middle of November through the middle of March.
We also run an off-season program from the end of the regular season until the end of July for wrestlers of all ages and experience levels. During this time we cover Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling technique.
Please have a look around and if you don’t find the answer to your question, please feel free to email.

Practice Update
There is no practice scheduled for the week of Christmas.  We will have practice the following week at Leonardtown on Tuesday, December 30 and Thursday, January 1.  I will hand out singlets during those practices.

Match Schedule
I have posted the match schedule.  It is available in Microsoft Word format on the page as well.  If you will not be able to make a match for whatever reason, please let me know as soon as possible.

Novice Tournament at Huntingtown
I have posted a flyer for the Novice Tournament at Huntingtown High School (Calvert County) on Sunday January 11.  This is a great opportunity for the 1st and 2nd year wrestlers to get a couple of extra matches against other 1st and 2nd year guys.  Just a reminder that any wrestler that is in their third year or more of wrestling is NOT allowed to compete at the tournament.  If any wrestler from our team is found to be in violation of this they will be removed from the team immediately.  This event is for 1st and 2nd year wrestlers only.  Flyer can be found here.

Regional Tournament
Wrestlers must qualify for the MDJW State Tournament beginning this season.  Our qualifier will be at Unique Sports Academy in Waldof on Saturday January 24.  This will be a higher level tournament but anyone can enter.  Flyer is here.

Open and Novice Tournament Results
Joshua Richey-Smith wrestled in his very first tournament over last weekend, entering the PAL Hagerstown Novice Tournament.  Joshua went 2-1 on the day and picked up his first career pin.  Great Job Joshua!

Christian Icaza won the CAWL Pre-Season Tournament a few weeks ago.  The tournament is a straight weight tournament, meaning many of Christian’s opponents were much older (3-4 years).  His bracket had 26 kids in it and Christian went 5-0 on the day, with 2 pins, one in the finals!
Sal Icaza attended the same tournament and finished 4th.  Awesome Tournament guys!
